I’m running a bit behind, I ran into a period where my muse sort of took a vacation without me. So the past week I’ve been on a bit of a roll. I hope it last.

When in doubt add splats…

Posted: March 8, 2015 in Journal Pages

the little things aI was trying to combine ideas from two different journal pages I had seen, It didn’t quite work out the way I thought it would. and I was left to much empty space, so I dug out my trusty Dr. Ph Martins bombay inks and added some splats, after that I was rather happy with the end results, and I’ll try the ideas again with another journal page.

Brick Walls

Posted: March 7, 2015 in Journal Pages

wallsLast page in my Break The Rules Journal, I’m working out of order so I actually one more page to finish before, I have completed another journal, I’m just a bit excited about that. There is real since of accomplishment when you know you’ve reached the end of one journal and get to start a new one 🙂

I used my brick stencil with lightweight spackle I mixed the spackle with some paints to get the brick look. After that was dry I used some of my new Dyan Reaveley paints and smeared it around trying to get a graffiti look, I am trying to figure out how to make words on the brick to look like graffiti. I have an identical canvas to this page, that I am going to hold off on until I’m more ready.

With enough tea…

…I could rule the worldenough tea full

Most who know me, know that I much prefer my tea to coffee, unless of course that coffee is a Venti Mocha Caramel Latte from Starbucks, then all bets are off 🙂

I have found a new to me artist on YouTube Vicky Papaioannou. I really enjoy watching her videos, her journal page ‘Take Life One Cup At A Time’ is what inspired this journal page. If you have the time take it and watch a few of her journal videos she is very inspiring.

I have started to use up some of my stash in my journals this year, with this one I dug out some of my extremely large pile of scrapbook paper to create this background and make my tea cups.

I used book paper and my big brush markers to create the sloshed tea, and I have to say that I am most proud of how that turned out, I was a tad skeptical when this idea popped into my head at first but after I started cutting the paper and adding it to the cups, I really like how it turned out – After I took these pictures I decided to take my glossy accent and cover all the tea in the cups. I will take a picture when it is dried *fingers crossed* it turns out like I hope it will.

The tea tags with quotes on them are from one of my favorite teas Yogi. I save all the tags and have finally gotten to use some of them in my art.

Life is art…

Life is art full

In keeping with my goal to try and do some form of art everyday, I worked on this last night I just wanted to play with paint, it was as simple as that… I’m pretty sure the general basis of it is a lesson in one of Dina Wakley’s book, I’m sure I seen it on the internet crack site (aka Pinterest)

The background: gessoed first, then I used one of my catalyst brushes (that I got at Hobby Lobby for .95 cents – really glad I talked hubby into going to HL that day) to spread the blue, I added a bit more gesso on top of the blue to tone it down just a bit after that I traced the flowers out with a pencil but didn’t like how that looked so I covered the marks up with paint and just had fun from there. all in all I think I spent about an hour on this page, one of the quickest journal pages I’ve ever done and it was kind of liberating to just throw paint on the page and have fun.
